Went for my Final theory evaluation today. i must admit, i was very apprehensive when taking the evaluation...i mean, there are like 100 of ways to start a car moving. Finish the evaluation in like less than 10 mins, spend the next 10 mins checking (i edit 2 ans) and got a score of 92% (god knows what might have happen if i didn't edit those ans).
It wasn't exactly my fault. i really did study. there was a qns that goes like this: When moving through a flood, u should accelerate and ? i was like...why the hell do u accelerate in the flood? i would have proceed slowly with the 2nd gear through the flood. Anyway, i chose the down gear option.
There was also 2 qns on overtaking where the car in the video wanted to overtake another vehicle on a 2 way traffic lane with another vehicle approaching in the opposite direction. Personally, i would wait till the road on the opp side is totally clear before even thinking abt over-taking.
I think i must take jeremy's and jeff's advice to book a practice session rite before my final theory test.
Next is my 4th driving lesson. Got a very moody and soft-spoken instructor. Previous instructors will go like...eh, u still in army why got time to come learn driving or after army wat u doing and i would strike a short conversation with them. But this time, this guy seems totally uninterested in know abt me.i'm fine with it since i'm not really a very chatty person (some of my friends may disagree though:)
Anyway, this guy taught me some different skill. Previously, i was taught that it was perfectly fine to stop with the 3rd gear, but this instructor insisted on changing down to the 2nd gear before stopping. Another thing was that he insist i do not remove my foot from the clutch after moving off. he insist on changing to the 2nd gear immediately after the vehicle starts to move. Then like all other students, i told him abt how my previous instructors taught me and i think he got a little pissed. Throughout the whole lesson, he was harping on the fact that i'm the one taking the test, not the instructors and what he's teaching is advance stuff...blah, blah, blah. Not a very enjoyable lesson i must say (all my driving lessons are not very enjoyable, except the first)
But there are some good takeaway from the lesson. i think i'm way more confident on the road now. Took much lesser time to move off (thanks to some advice from wei liang). probably need to improve on my coordination still (like every other individual who's learning)
Lastly is the surprise of the day, i met Darly at bukit gombak mrt station. i presumed he just came back from SMU. Have not spoken to him since he orded on 23 jan 09 (see, i even rmb the date...i think)...but we hit off pretty well. As usual, he started off with some SMU propaganda and laughing at the fact that i'm a CPL (he used to laugh at me for being a REC). Then i went on abt how i'm going to wallaby and he laughed even more. He even wanted me to remind Jeff to inform him of any gatherings in the future and was slightly apologetic for missing the last party. I must say, it's nice to meet him...hopefully we'll get to meet up more often.
